Counter-current scrubbers are cost-efficient systems for single contaminant loads. The waste air is led from the bottom to the top - "counter-current" to the scrubbing liquid being rinsed from above through a packed bed. The outlet of the clean gases is at the top of the washing tower. Cleaning efficiencies of 95 to 99% can be achieved.
The scrubbing liquid streams from the top downwards through a packing bed into the built-in washing water sump. The air to be treated is led from the bottom upwards through the packing (counter-current).
By this counter-current principle highest removal efficiencies for poisonous gases and odorous compounds are achieved. Contaminants like HCl, Ammonia, Hydrogen sulphide can be absorbed with an efficiency of more than 99%.
The packing we use guarantees optimum mass transfer with only low pressure loss. The special order and geometry of the single filaments cause a continuous dividing and renewing of the water droplets rinsing downstream.
Typical applications are the separation of inorganic and organic acids (HCl, HF,SO2, NOX, acetic acid as well as H2S, Ammonia and water-soluble organic compounds (Acetone, Alcohols)
